Top End Wetlands & Wildlife Tours
Darwin Tours – April to May 2018
The 2018 tour year has gotten off to a damp start as the late rain filled dams, flooded creeks and drenched the local population. Cyclone Marcus in March caused a stir also with winds getting up to around 135km/hr.
Plenty of trees came down across the Darwin region with many conservation areas being damaged in the process and some people being without power for a week.
As rough as this sounds it is all part of living in the Top End.
It is now coming to the end of May and life moves on. The town has been largely cleared of fallen trees and the cycle continues. We are now seeing the wildlife of the NT emerging with many birds sporting youngins and even some small salties here and there.
Temperatures have settled into the classic Dry Season rhythm with humidity now a thing of memory fast fading into the past.
The land is still green however the annual fire management strategy has begun bringing the kites on mass and creating those iconic tequila sunsets that our souls thrive on. Perfect timing to conincide with Mindle Beach Market.
Bushfood options are beginning to temp the palate and the annual migration of the southern nomadic grey homo sapiens sapiens has begun.
Amongst all this we have been running regular Litchfield tours as well a our Wetlands and Wildlife tours. We even have the Territory Wildlife Park shuttle service running with help from our mate Curtis.
So far it has been a blast as it seems that there are still many stories to share with guests and listen to in our small groups.
