Why is group size so important ?

importance of group size

Group size is an essential factor to consider when joining a public tour. The size of the group affects the overall experience of the tour, including the level of engagement, the quality of communication, and the level of personalization. Therefore, choose carefully to ensure you choose right..

1.Group Size affects the Level of Engagement

One of the main reasons group size is crucial in a public tour is that it affects the level of engagement between the tour guide and the participants. A small group allows the tour guide to communicate better with each individual, creating a more personalized experience. This also allows for more interaction and discussion between the tour guide and the group, leading to a more immersive and informative tour experience.

2.Quality of communication

The quality of communication between the tour guide and the participants is also influenced by group size. A smaller group allows for more open communication and better understanding of the material being presented. Tour guides can adjust their presentation style based on the people in the group, resulting in a more dynamic and engaging experience.

3.The level of personalisation of the overall experience

Additionally, group size can also affect the level of personalization of the tour. With a smaller group, the tour guide can tailor the tour to the interests and needs of the participants, creating a more meaningful experience. In contrast, a larger group may require a more general approach to the tour, which may not be as relevant or engaging for each individual participant.

4. Quality of Food

Quality of food is also a significant factor to consider, particularly for culinary tours. The quality of food and beverages offered on the tour can significantly impact the satisfaction of participants. Using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and providing options for dietary restrictions can ensure a high-quality culinary experience for all participants.  The smaller the group the more ability tour companies have to provide diversity and quality in their food offerings.

5. Less wasted time

Smaller groups have the advantage of being able to move quickly and efficiently, minimizing the time spent lining up for events or activities. This can lead to less congestion, less time wasted waiting in queues, and ultimately a more enjoyable experience for everyone involved. By prioritizing small groups, we can make a meaningful contribution to sustainability efforts while improving the overall quality of life for individuals.

6. Smaller group is smaller impact

Small groups tend to be more flexible and adaptable, making them more capable of adapting to changes in the environment and also less likely to have an averse impact on that environment and thus more responsible. By prioritizing smaller groups, we can decrease the impact of our activities on the local environment, helping to preserve it for future generations.

Conclusion

In conclusion, group size is an important factor to consider when organizing a public tour.  Careful consideration needs to be given to choosing the right tour company and there by group size to suit your objectives and desires.

What’s in a size ?

Some people will tell you that 15 to 25 people is a small group.  In comparison to the big coaches then maybe you could cut them a little slack.  But really anything over 12 is no longer a small group.  Saying that it is not uncommon to see groups of 25 even being touted as a small group experience.  Given these types of tours tend to be aimed at less engaged travellers they are still out there.

From experience it is almost impossible to fully engage with more than 12 people over the course of day.

For this reason ethical adventures limits its day tours to 10 guests.
