Ethical Adventures keep their tours to a maximum of 10 guests so we can travel this ancient land responsibly. A small group allows you to be immersed into the culture, community and way of life whilst having a minimal environmental impact. Our Kakadu tours are hosted by a qualified eco and local guide and always connect with community groups, Aboriginal-owned businesses and guided tours.

kakadu 2 day overnight tour
An early morning start on the guided tour gets us out to greet the sunrise on the dynamic Adelaide River floodplains.
Our first stop is the enigmatic Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve, home to a massive variety of birdlife, reptiles, mammals and more across wetlands, floodplains, woodlands and monsoonal forests. We will enjoy breakfast with the birds and coffee with the critters!
Moving on, our adventure takes us to the edge of Kakadu and Arnhem Land and the award-winning Guluyambi Cultural Cruise for 90 minutes of wildlife spotting, indigenous culture instructions and anecdotes from a local aboriginal guide.
Bear in mind to keep your hands in the boat as this river has one of the highest populations of estuarine crocodiles in the world.
Surviving this, enjoy lunch overlooking the infamous Cahills Crossing before venturing to our hotel accommodation for the evening and a short break. Freshen up, go for a swim in the pool or take a short nap … this is your time to relax. Later in the evening, we meander down to Nawurlanja for a visual treat as the setting sun explodes off the ancient Arnhem escarpment in shades of ochre.
Returning to Jabiru for dinner at the in-house Chinese restaurant.
kakadu 2 day overnight tour
Up before the birds to explore Kakadu and all it has to offer! Our first adventure stop is Cooinda where we join one of the best attractions; the world-renowned sunrise Yellow Water Billabong cruise. This is the perfect cruise to witness the wakening of wildlife on the Kakadu wetlands and learn about the diverse ecosystem from the local guide.
Enjoy the full buffet breakfast at Cooinda Resort after the cruise before spending some quality time in the comprehensive Warradjan Aboriginal cultural centre.
Featuring stories, images, crafts, art and much more, Warradjan is a place to cruise quietly and slowly. Absorb the knowledge and then sit down with female elders and learn the craft of string making and weaving (if available).
Following this, we journey towards Anbangbang Billabong and Nourlangie. Both Anbangbang and Nourlangie are significant areas of past and present and environmental interaction for the local indigenous people. A wealth of Ancient Aboriginal rock art adorning the sandstone massifs of Nourlangie provides the perfect depiction of life through the ages for Australia’s first peoples.
Following the walk enjoy lunch by Anbangbang Billabong before getting back to Jabiru and your 30-minute scenic flight over the region. No better way to put the stunning Kakadu National Park all in perspective than from 2000 ft!
Departing Jabiru around 3:30 pm, expect to be back in Darwin around 7 pm and reflect on one of the best Kakadu tours!

To highly recommend this tour would be an understatement !
The small group allowed individual attention to each request and interest , to provide an informed, wonderful experience. Nalani the guide was very knowledgeable about the region and culture, experienced,,fun and attentive to everyone’s needs. The tour was comprehensive, personalised and everything was handled smoothly, with consultation and professionally.. The accomodation was great and the meals and snacks were delicious leaving no one hungry or disappointed. Everyone on the tour was impressed and left with an unforgettable memory
This is a superb company who really do live up to the ethical in their name. They actively support Indigenous people and business whilst providing you with an experience in the wonderous Kakadu that is informed, fun and comprehensive. Everything seems to be planned for maximum effect for us and minimum impact on the environment; and they succeed in that goal.
Our guide Nalani was terrific; knowledgeable and competent as well as producing generous amounts of wonderful fresh food from the back of the trailer.
One in our small party had a nasty accident. Nalani dealt with it calmly with maximum care and safety for that person yet minimum disruption to the rest of us; very impressive.
I have no hesitation in recommending this company. You will have a great adventure whichever tour you choose, and you can be confident you will be well looked after at every step along the way. Important consideration as a solo traveler.
From the time we booked with Ethical Adventures until we returned from our Colours of Kakadu and Litchfield tours everything was handled in a smooth and professional way. We liked the idea of being in a small group (nine people) where there is time for a more personalised experience. Our leader on the Kakadu trip, Nalani is a young Territorian who clearly has a love of the country and knowledge to match which gave us a good understanding of the land, nature and the local communities. Karl on the Litchfield tour was similarly knowledgable.
We couldn't leave unsaid our wonderment of how the fabulous meals, snacks and treats were produced and enjoyed in marvellous settings while travelling. It was a great team effort on the part of all at Ethical Adventures. Thank you for the memorable sights and experiences.
Our outstanding experience with Nalani as we explored Kakadu could not be faulted. The comfortable travel, thoughtful planning, delicious food and knowledge shared on this adventure in our stunning country will never be forgotten. Well done Ethical Adventures - yes you "do it right".
