BESPOKE WILDLIFE, FOGG DAM & WETLANDS TOUR

Darwin Wildlife Tour
best tour we have done
… It was fabulous from go to whoa. Rob was a brilliant guide with his knowledge and enthusiasm being very contagious. Nothing was too much trouble and he created a very close knit group with our fellow travelers … to not do a tour with ethical adventures would be a mistake as it really doesn’t get any better than this …

itinerary overiew
Rise for the birds and greet the outback sunrise as you are picked up from your accommodation around 0600 am.
As the warm golden rays highlight the red tones of the landscape, you’ll head south through open savanna woodlands on your way to the mighty Adelaide River Floodplain.
Stop over at Fogg Dam where the diverse habitats of monsoonal forest, wetland and floodplain combine to provide the perfect place to observe the Top Ends unique wildlife.
With over 230 different species of birds recorded in this region you are bound to find a favourite.
Here also begin your bushcraft journey of discovery by learning some of the bush foods and medicine plants of the Top End amidst nature at its finest.
Pause for a simple home prepared snack for breakfast.
From here it is a short distance to Corroboree Billabong. Here we enjoy nature as it was meant to be seen on a relaxed 1.5 hour wildlife cruise. Snakes, crocodiles and more are regular features on this journey so come prepared.
Having answered the call of the wild we then regroup for a fresh outback lunch overlooking the billabong and one last look before making our way back to Darwin.
Anticipate getting back to Darwin around 3 pm 🙂
fogg dam conservation reserve
Fogg Dam is known for being a hub for migratory water birds, magpie geese, white-bellied sea eagles, winged kookaburras and other wildlife. In fact, there have been 239 bird species recorded in the Fogg Dam conservation reserve and our knowledgeable guide is ready to help you spot the best wildlife on this wetland experience.
First, we will enjoy a relaxed stroll through the monsoonal forest that fringes the dam. Here is a great opportunity to learn your experienced local guide’s knowledge of native bush foods, medicines and natural resources our traditional owners would utilise.
Take the time to peer through the paperbark trees onto the wetland beyond as the water birds go about their business.
Relax and admire the antics of the abundant wildlife that frolic, scamper and glide all around.
The area boasts one of the largest snake populations in Australia so we highly recommend closed footwear!
We will enjoy a delicious lunch near the spectacular scenery of the dam wall with the surrounding wildlife. Sitting here, we’re sure you will fall in love with the Northern Territory as much as Ethical Adventures has and will continue our Responsible Tourism message every place you travel to.
Corroboree billabong & mary river wetlands
The enigmatic Corroboree Billabong is linked to the expansive Mary River Wetlands. A system which boast the highest concentration of salt water crocodiles in the world.
Not only will you get up close to saltwater crocodiles in their natural state, but you will also learn of the broader wetland ecosystem. The ebb and floe lifecycle of the environments of the Top End that is dominated by monsoonal floods and drought like winters.
At the completion of the cruise savor your dioicous lunch in a ‘secret’ spot before making way back to Darwin.
Back in Darwin between around 2 pm.

A wonderful surprise, found at very short notice. Ethical Adventures ticked all the boxes for me. Small groups, informative & nothing was too much trouble! Rob is a delightful tour guide, who cares about the environment. He was very knowledgeable in describing birds, various areas, and environmental issues. Highly recommended!
Hi Eva, Thanks for your review. It was a pleasure to share the morning sunrise and the NT wildlife and environments with you. I look forward to your return to the Top End. All the best, Rob
A well-organised small group that ensured we were introduced to some wonderful aspects of the Northern Territory's natural environment by a passionate tour leader. I was also very impressed by how much care had been taken to ensure that my dietary requirements were met.
